Jerusalem: An Unforgettable City
  1. Describe the importance of Jerusalem in the life of ancient Israel. How was it connected to the social and religious life of the Jews?
  2. Read Mark 13:1-2. What are the differences between how the disciples saw the buildings of Jerusalem--including the temple--and how Jesus saw them?
  3. ​What made Jerusalem such a great place to live?
  4. Jerusalem wasn't just important to Jews. Who else considers the city to be a significant political or spiritual center? Why? 
  5. What are some of the most noteworthy features or places for you in the video? Why do they stand out to you? 

The Ministry of Jesus in Northern Israel
  1. Most scholars agree that Jesus' first miracle was turning water to wine at a wedding feast at Cana. Where else does marriage imagery figure into the teachings of Jesus? 
  2. What do we learn about the character of Jesus in this story? 
  3. Why was Jesus reluctant to do anything at first? What do you think this says about the timing of events during his ministry?
  4. What does this story say about the nature of the relationship between Jesus and his mother? 
  5. What kinds of things serve as idols for people today?

Dan: City of Unfaithfulness
  1. Read 1 Kings 14:16; 15:30; 16:2-31; 2 Kings 10:29-31; 15:18-28; 17:22. How would you describe Jeroboam's spiritual legacy?
  2. Where in the book of Judges do we see the tribe of Dan? What are they doing, and what does that say about their spiritual character?
  3. How did the biblical prophets describe idolatry? 
  4. How does God view the importance of our fidelity to him and his will in the Bible?
  5. What does the history of Dan tell us about the consequences of having the wrong spiritual priorities? 

In the Shadow of GIlboa: Reaping and Sowing
  1. In your estimation, what is the most tragic part of Saul's life?
  2. How did Saul's sins affect others, including his family?
  3. In one sentence, how would you sum up the spiritual life of Saul? 
  4. Why do you think Jonathan was so faithful, while his father wasn't?
  5. Saul's career was primed for success. Why did he fail to live up to his potential? 

Treasures of Qumran: The Dead Sea Scrolls
  1. ​Read Galatians 3:28. What are some primary differences between the Qumran community and the New Testament church in light of these passages? 
  2. Do you see similarities in how individuals are distinguished when comparing the Qumran community with non-Christian religions? 
  3. What spiritual lessons might we take away from the residents of Qumran in terms of their dedication and commitment? 
  4. How do the Dead Sea Scrolls contribute to our understanding of the Bible and its history?
